Folaha GPS and Preschool

Our School Garden and Prevention of Childhood Obesity project took us to Folaha GPS. While checking the needs of the preschool, we learned that the GPS needed desks and chairs.  We put furnishings aside for Folaha GPS while waiting for the gardens to be built for the school garden.

Teachers from Folaha GPS came to our warehouse to choose books. They wandered through our furnishings which had just arrived. They picked out some more tables and bookshelves, which was great as they filled a need. We usually do not have our recipients come to the warehouse because they always want more and want things already earmarked for other schools. In this case, we were able to place some of the items which were not already set for other schools.

The GPS received desks and chairs for 3 classrooms where children were sitting on the floor for lessons, 2 double-sided bookshelves, balls, 3-4 other tables, and teacher chairs. The teachers were so excited to see the soft adjustable chairs!

The preschool received a high table for the tabletop cooking stove, 2 pots, 1 skillet so they can cook the vegetables they will be growing in the gardens we are helping them grow. They also received picture books, a slide, teeter-totter, jumping balls, rugby and net balls, 2 trampolines. The little ones will have play equipment for their own size.

Of course, the children performed at the handover. After the talks, the fun part began. Students danced. The preschoolers sang.

Julie and Darren got to go to this handover. I am making a separate post for their visit. You will find pictures of them in that post

Then we got to mingle with the kids!

We will come back for a play day with the preschools and to set up the slide!

Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.
